About me and the courses

My name is Christine Anderssen and that is me (on the left), with my daughter, Renita on her wedding day. I made her wedding dress as well as my own outfit.

I started sewing when I was about 10 years old, using the old hand-crank Singer at my grandmother’s house. I then progressed sewing doll’s clothes using my mother’s Bernina.

I slowly progressed to sewing my own clothes and really managed to hone my skills under the tutelage of my mother-in-laws, (yes, two of them), both of whom really were expert seamstresses.

I decided to create these sewing courses since I realised that sewing is a dying art and I would really like to contribute to preserve this skill.

I am by no means a professional, this is just a hobby, but I do make all (most) of my own clothes and am very comfortable making quite complex garments such as jackets, wedding dresses and costumes!

I have also given training courses before on various other topics such as web design, software testing and other IT related courses, so I am well familiar with drawing up and giving in-person training and workshops.

Here is a selection of outfits that I have made through the years – mostly work clothes, cosplay outfits for myself and my family, and my daughter’s wedding dress.
