Are You Keen To Learn How To Sew?

Learn New Skills And Have Fun While Doing So!

Let’s face it, fast fashion has almost killed home sewing. Why would you want to learn how to sew when it is easier to just go to the nearest Kmart or other Warehouse and buy something off the rack to slouch around in?

Even work clothes have changed focus. Previously you needed to dress pretty smartly to go to the office. These days, you either work from home (probably in your favourite pair of PJs) or when you do into the office, you are probably wearing a casual outfit and sneakers.

Why Bother Learning To Sew?

Will you save money by making your own clothes? Sadly, probably not. Again, fast fashion and sweat-shops have managed to bring the cost of clothes down to such an extent that it is probably not economical to sew your own clothes.

Fabric and other tools required for sewing are also not cheap.

Why do it then?

It is fun

It is fun and challenging to learn how to sew. You will really get a sense of accomplishment in your newly found skills. See it as a hobby – instead of doom scrolling your life away on social media, rather replace it with either sewing  – or doom scrolling sewing tutorials!

You will be unique in what you wear

Have you ever noticed how dull and similar-looking off-the-rack clothes are? Create your own clothes and be unique! Just know that no one else in the world will be wearing what you are wearing – and the feeling of pride in your own work is something that cannot be replicated.

Your clothes will fit you

If you struggle to find trousers or skirts or dresses that fit then sewing your own clothes is definitely the answer. You will get to know your body shape and how to adjust patterns to fit your body so that you can confidently create your own style and look good all the time.

Get creative – create more than just clothes

Being able to sew will open other doors apart from just sewing clothes. Learn about the wonderful world of quilting and embroidery, or make your own hats, bags, aprons and other items that you can use yourself or give away as gifts.

Where Do I Start? How Much Will It Cost?

There are tons of tutorials available on the internet – too many, in fact. For someone new to sewing the amount of information can be overwhelming.

Online courses are good but are not really interactive, so no help when you just don’t understand a pattern instruction, or are sewing crooked lines and no-one can guide you in person.

The beginner sewing course consists of 6 modules spread over 4 in-person workshops and will equip you with the necessary skills to learn how to sew your own clothes using a sewing machine. View the modules below or click here to find out about cost, schedule and making a booking.
