Description
This intermediate sewing course will take you to the next step of learning to sew more advanced clothes. It is ideal for people who have:
- Completed a basic sewing course but would like to learn more advanced techniques to enable them to make a wider variety of clothes
- Learned to sew a while ago but have not had the time or opportunity to start sewing again and feel a bit unsure of where to begin. You might also feel a bit rusty and not have self-confidence in using a sewing machine
The course is spread over 2 weekends (Sat + Sun of one weekend, and 3 hours the next Saturday) and covers the following:
- Sewing machine recap – recap of the sewing machine basic usage, practicing sewing to come to grips with the basic stitches and machine usage again.
- Pattern recap – you might not have had previous exposure to commercial and PDF patterns, or have forgotten some of the basics, so let’s recap how patterns work, how to lay out and cut your fabric and follow pattern instructions.
- Advanced sewing techniques – Buttonholes, zips (2 types), darts, sleeves, facings.
- Making an advanced piece of clothing – choose your own and make it under supervision and guidance every step of the way
